There are only a select few fashion designers in the world that can truly be called ‘legendary’ or ‘iconic’ and Zandra Rhodes fits those descriptions perfectly.

From her beginnings in the late 1960s, where her early textile designs were considered too outrageous by the traditional British manufacturers (so she decided to make dresses from her own fabrics and pioneered the very special use of printed textiles as an intrinsic part of the garments she created) to the punk-era of the 1970s, Zandra was always ahead of the curve.

Zandra was one of the new wave of British designers who put London at the forefront of the international fashion scene in the 1970s. Her unique use of bold prints, fiercely feminine patterns and theatrical use of colour has given her garments a timeless quality that makes them unmistakably a Rhodes creation. In 1977 she pioneered the pink and black jersey collection with holes and beaded safety pins that earned her the name of “Princess of Punk”. She has designed for clients as diverse as Diana, Princess of Wales, Jackie Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, Freddie Mercury, Debbie Harry, Kylie Minogue, Anastasia, Paris Hilton and the late Joan Rivers.

Zandra is just one of the top names bringing her individualistic vision to Bath in Fashion 2016 this April and her involvement extends to an exciting collaboration with another visionary designer – Nicholas Wylde, award-winning Bath and Bristol designer jeweller.

Nicholas is among the top jewellery designers in the world with his own bespoke diamond cut, the Wylde Flower Diamond – a diamond that has more precisely cut facts than any other diamond.

In a unique collaboration, Zandra and Nicholas are ‘teaming-up’ to produce a one-off, bespoke jewellery creation – a pendant – that already has the fashion pack’s attention!

We will be following the process of creation for this truly original piece of jewellery, from initial conception ideas through to design and construction and to the final, sumptuous piece that will be unveiled during Bath in Fashion week.

The pendant will be designed by Zandra and then lovingly crafted in precious gems and metals by Nicholas, resulting in a unique, quality collaboration between the two artisans.

Nicholas said:  “This is an amazing opportunity to work with an incredible, vibrant designer in fashion and I know the results will be simply stunning. I’m so pleased that this is happening as it will prove to be one of the high-lights of our Grand Finale Designer Fashion show for Bath in Fashion. Every year this event gets bigger and better and Nicholas Wylde is proud to be a main sponsor of Bath in Fashion 2016.”
